What is a genius? Is a genius someone
who has a brilliant idea or a brilliant invention? Is it someone who is smart
in many fields or is it someone who knows how to make a ton of money? A genius can be all those things. We all have
our own definition of genius. Even the romans had their own interpretation of a
genius. The romans believed a genius was not a very intelligent person. But now
when you hear someone say genius we automatically think that the person is really
smart or that person had a brilliant invention. In my opinion you don’t have to
be a Harvard graduate to be a genius or to be a Steve Jobs and create apple
which is a multibillion dollar corporation. I think to be a genius you just
have to have that one great idea and run with it. Even though I said you didn’t
need to be a Steve Jobs to be a genius, however he is one of the most modern
geniuses of our time, along with Mark Zuckerburg who created Facebook and Ken
Kuaragi who created the PlayStation three. Yes there are many more geniuses but
those are just some who stand out. The center of attention I want to address is
Steve Jobs. The man accomplished amazing goals but just like all the rest he
had to start somewhere. When someone says Steve Jobs what do you think? I
either think Mac or IPhone. But Steve’s first invention was a personal computer
which later evolved into Mac. But what I want to focus is Steve Jobs invention of
the IPhone. I mean most of us have saw an iPhone or own one. Think of all the
planning it would take to make it work. Just trying to think about how hard it
was to interlink the app store or iTunes with the millions of songs or the
millions of games that are right at your fingertips. I mean think about the
first cellphone. You didn’t have texting, face time, games or anything. Plus
the thing was a size of a brick and you could only call on it. But now the
IPhone allows you to video chat with friends on face time or Skype. There is
also the GPS feature on it in case your lost or going on a trip. There are even apps for business proposals and
to check your email and even keep track of your fantasy teams if you’re a sports
buff. I think the newest thing they have out now is called the square which is
a credit card reader. Which means no more typing your long credit card number
out on eBay, or whatever site you are buying stuff off of, you can now just
swipe your card through the square just like you would in a store? Also you
even have the internet browser if you need to search something and you even
have Siri, which is your own personal assistant where you can set memos and be notified
if you have an appointment or an assignment due for class, and you can watch
movies. That still doesn’t cover all of it either you also have a camera that
can take videos and pictures. The point is Steve Jobs had an idea and stuck
with it to make it work. But he didn’t just stop at the very first IPhone which
was the iPhone 3. He had many more IPhones each one getting better and better
with more things you can do on it starting from the IPhone 3 up to the latest IPhone
which is the IPhone 5, which that is what makes him a genius. He kept working
to make it better and better and is still working on more new features for IPhones
in the future some of the ideas are the holographic keyboard and the projection
to watch movies on.
